The Situation at the Beginning ...

38 weeks into my first pregnancy and the impulse to write... Arriving in UK in March, I embarked on my new phase and role in life as SAHM. We have finally settled into a lovely house and made some good friends. While the transition in the midst of my first pregnancy has not been an easy one, it helps tremendously that my sister is here and we can reconnect again after almost 8 years apart. The last visit to the midwife gives the update of Baby being healthy and engaged in the right position. Now begins the waiting game...

New Yoga Class, New Neighbours

Today, my fren Belinda and I checked out a yoga class led by a midwife-cum-trained-yoga-instructor.  Was great, as she went through actual yoga poses and used yoga terms. We did the sun salutation and she explained how each pose was beneficial to the birthing process. We also did learn massage techniques (she provided actual massage oil for the practical bit) as well as breathing techniques for contractions and for crowning.  On the whole, we had a good time, finding it really useful, but above all, felt much assured that MK Hospital does have nice, frenly midwives... esp after our less-than-desirable experiences with our own midwife, who is also from the same hospital and this is a unanimous sentiment among many other preggies we have met who have the same latter midwife... :(  In any case, Henry and I are just glad that we have chosen to go to Bedford Hospital and not MK anyway :)

Skyped with Mummy today and she's quite looking forward to coming now.  It's so fast - 2 weeks more and Mum and Dad will be here. Yen and I are excited too.  And Henry is so funny; when he heard Mummy is into My Aquarium, he got both of us to start on Fishville, which is more fun. And he kept asking me at the beginning if Mummy has signed up yet to the game.  So now, everyday, I am checking my aquarium and feeding my fish or cleaning off the scum on the aquarium walls, not to mention sharing love and finds of lost or trapped sea creatures... when you play the waiting game, you have to find things to occupy your time :)  I hope Baby doesn't let me wait too long. And that he will come quickly, so we can go home quickly and spend time with the whole family. Dun let me have an agonising time please... let's co-operate :)

Today, our new neighbours moved in. Have been looking forward to meeting them cos we were told that the lady is also expecting and due on the same date as me. I spoke to them today and they are nice people. Chantal told me that actually she is going for an elective C-section on 23 Aug, which is still near my date anyway.  She has a little girl called Amy, whom I have not met.  And with Belinda, living just 5 minutes away, popping around the same time, Baby will have a lot of playmates :)  Chantal also told me that there is a singing session at the library and that it is suitable for babies from a few months old, so we can go together.  Hopefully, Baby will get some musical sense and master an instrument unlike his parents who both regret not being able to play any.  Maybe, we can even learn together :)

  2. Hi, Wendy, thanks for your support. I must say besides helping to kill the waiting time, this is helping me to bond with Baby more. It is now part of my quiet time :)
